About Me

1hp1025.jpg

This is my 11th year in education and my first year at Louisburg High School. Previously, I taught at Prairie View High School for four years and Pomona/West Franklin High School for six years. I graduated high school from Maur Hill Prep Academy in Atchison, KS. I attended Ottawa University for my undergraduate degree in English and received my MAEd from Baker University in educational theory and practice.
I will teach English 300, Introduction to journalism, and Yearbook. I also will co-sponsor Student Council at the high school.
I reside in Louisburg with my daughter Bella. I am on the Louisburg Soccer Board and coach soccer in the LSC system. I have played soccer all my life and still do today in Overland Park.
In 2012 I was a regional finalist for Kansas Teacher of the Year and spent last semester traveling to colleges and school districts with the other seven finalists learning best practices and p[resenting to future teachers.
When I teach, I like to provide an engaging and technology rich classroom centered around the student where the student is challenged and learning is tailored to each student's strengths and needs. Such methods as Socratic seminar, cooperative learning, diversified instruction, project-based learning, Marzano strategies, and scaffolding are utilized to accomplish educational goals are met. The goal is to provide support to students while challenging them with a rigorous curriculum and content that will prepare them for college and careers.
